Thanks and congratulations to all the Dragon's Team Runners who braved oppressive conditions to turn out for the club last Thursday and even more so to the great support voiced from all around the tough 10k course.
Special mention must go to Richard for turning out at all after his terrific efforts in the Danefield Relays the previous evening and also to one of our younger members, Mark Woods, who had a tremendous run to be second Dragon's counter.
Personally for me the highlight of the race was the battle for the line between sprint specialist Stuart (aided and paced by the ever eager Emma) and Simon Brown. Simon just getting the nod over 'The Bolt' this time.
Thanks to Otley AC who put on an excellent race and also superb refreshments.

RICHMOND RACE
Richard Balshaw
Richmond (see photo) was the venue for the 4th Harrogate Race League Meeting on Thursday 19th June with over 200 runners turning out in wet windy miserable weather. The race was hilly and muddy (at the start) with the monster of all climbs at the 2 mile mark that forced many runners to walk. See the elevation and course here http://connect.garmin.com/player/7290772
The views on the way up were spectacular but I don't think anyone could catch their breath long enough to appreciate it. 8 brave Dragons conquered the 5.4 mile course that thankfully had the last 2 miles downhill, here are the results:
Pos Time Name
9 33.57 RICHARD BALSHAW
73 39.07 RUSSELL THORNTON
99 41.14 MARK WOODS
146 44.54 PAUL BLYTH
169 47.17 KAYE BARNEY
185 50.47 LYNN DONOHUE
206 55.32 LYNDA CROFT
216 59.17 SUE MIFSUD
Although the race was well organised the refreshments fell short of this standard with paper plates first to run out closely followed by the food (unless you like egg mayo sandwiches and coleslaw that is). But we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with everyone having a tale or two to tell (about hills and mud mainly).
